No-IP.com DUC is a DNS updater client for the NO-IP service. The Dynamic DNS servers allow you to choose a name and have your IP address redirected to that name. So, if you have an Internet Service Provider that changes your IP every time you reboot your ADSL modem, for example, you will greatly benefit from this application. No-IP.com DUC sits on your system tray and updates your IP address to the servers regularly, so that whenever your IP address changes, your name will be attached to that address. The application is pretty easy to use and works great under Windows 98, ME, 2000, and XP. I have had many difficulties with this application on Windows Vista. I take it that the installation is outdated and it is unable to create a service for it to start with Windows, which is annoying, since I need to be able to rely on it. That's why I switched to DynDNS. I like it a lot more and is Vista friendly. It is a shame the development team hasn't kept this application updated, because it was great and I used it for a long time. Hopefully they will solve this problem soon. Anyway, this application (when it works) works like a charm, so go ahead and give it a try. Don't let my words judge the application. |
